A rating will let you know the energy performance of your home on a standardized level, which makes it easier to compare to other HERS rated homes.  It will also identify cost effective improvement recommendations that can increase your home’s comfort and performance.    A HERS rating is required to qualify a home for an energy efficient mortgage.  And a HERS rating is required for a home to be labeled as an Energy Star home.
