Single-Family Green Building Program

Bluegill Energy’s staff of certified professionals provides independent, third-party verification to help building projects meet the Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) performance measures.

AEGB created the country’s first green home rating system in 1991, rating homes on a scale of one to five stars, with five stars representing the greenest homes. Over the years, AEGB’s rating system has evolved along with changing codes, new technologies and an increased understanding of sustainable building practices. The AEGB Single-Family Rating System applies to new construction, remodels and additions to single-family homes, duplexes and townhomes. A fixed fee of $50 is required in order to participate in the AEGB Single-Family Rating System.

Multi-Family Green Building Program

Much like the AEGB Single-Family Rating System, the AEGB’s Multi-Family Rating System has evolved along with new codes, new technologies and an increased understanding of sustainable building practices.

The AEGB Multi-Family Green Building Program is:

• Targeted – Designed specifically for multi-family and mixed-use developments.
• Broad – Allows you to build and rate mixed-use developments according to a single set of requirements and measures.
• Innovative – Encourages and rewards creative ideas and solutions.
• Clear – Uses quantifiable terms, gallons of water saved, amount of materials diverted away from landfills and other key benefits.
